Tutorial / ReadMe!
- Clear all data (menu:clear)
- Load species from sample.spc (menu:open)
- Load parameters from manual.sim (parameters window/menu:open)
- Open world window (main window/w)
- Drag 'Antilope' species to world window
- Switch autofocus to 'fast' mode (world window/4th radiobutton)
- Click on the creatures list/antilope
- Start simulation (main window:stop-play)
- You can watch as the creature moves, play with it, grab with the mouse
(shift+LMB), try to change world display parameters, move the camera...
- Double click on the creatures list/antilope and watch the neuron
signals in the net
- Want to try out your own creature? Look at 'genotype'
section, and try to modify an existing species or create a new one.
Then you can place it in the simulator world.
If you would like to start some evolution now, you should change some
parameters: turn on 'death' - creatures will be removed when they run out
of energy, set the number of creatures to be placed automatically in the
world, set the selection criterion... and of course enter the starting
species in the species list: this can be the simple 'bacteria' (single X)
or you may wish to evolutionary improve any other species.
About supplied files:
- velocity.sim - evolution for velocity
- manual.sim - without death and automatic creation, good for trying out
creatures (they will not die)
- f-x.sim - complicated world (blocks, water), simulator is not ready yet for
using this in evolution, but you can try...
- default.sim - loaded at startup as defaults
- sample.spc - demo species
Speed hints:
- set display update to /300
- hide world and info windows
- iconify the application
